We are a very friendly club, and we look forward to meeting new and old members. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at the Winstanley Community College, Leicester.
Leicester Branch is one of the earliest branches of the, as then NCSS. The first meeting was held in Leicester on the 3rd May 1947, and inaugurated by H.M Roan, initially called the Midlands Branch. Roll on to present day, and we have recently celebrated the our 75th Anniversary. There is a short article in the October 2022 issue of CactusWorld covering this.
The meetings last for around 2 1/2 hours. We have a varied lecture programme, with a talk by an invited speaker most months. We also have a monthly table display. We usually get between 10 and 20 members attending.
We just ask for voluntary donation of £1 to help cover the cost of hiring the room and the speaker.
Are you fascinated by cacti and succulents? Have you ever wondered how you can flower your favourites, when to water them, what kind of compost to use, where to acquire more at sensible prices, or even free?
If the answer to any, or all, of these questions is yes, we at the Leicester Branch of the BCSS would be delighted to welcome you to our meetings. You will be made very welcome – do come along and join us one evening.
Please see our contact us page for more information on how to find us.
